• Gigha Island

Here we are at Gigha Island. Yes, the entire runway is full of this scrub and a little bumpy, but not too bad. Landing fee 3 quid. We walked into the village 1.5 miles away as it was a nice day. Had a nice lunch at the Hotel and arranged 78 litres of fuel for us and Andy in a Eurostar who we met up at St Michaels Saturday. The General Store delivered us and the fuel back to the airfield.
  • Ayreshire coast

Here we are still at 4500 feet coasting out enroute too Gigha, life jackets on of course. There’s a fair bit of water to cross and not an awful lot of places to go should something break. The land is big lumps of granite mostly. It’s about 14 miles of sea until we get to the Isle of Arran, then another 5 miles of wet stuff until the Kintyre peninsula, then a short crossing to Gigha Island.
  • Cumbria

Enroute to Gigha Island, one of the Western Isles of Scotland. Lovely weather - nice and Sunny, complete with some roller-coaster patches. Climbed up to 4500 where it was smoother, and have a great view. Please excuse propeller, kind of unavoidable… IMAG0164.jpg #1060

So, after an astoundingly great flight to Glassonby and a nice night in the log cabin, we were just getting ready to leave when Rowley (Mr Grumpy :) the farmer who owns the strip appeared and took as to his lodge for breakfast. What a house :) Nice breakfast and we left for Gigha at 1030. IMAG0161.jpg #1059
  • Glassonby

Saturday: At Glassonby, 25 miles south of Carlise on somebody’s recommendation. Log cabin - very comfy and warm! IMAG0159.jpg #1058
  • Tick tock

So, Thursday already which means soon it will be time for the off. James, my passenger, and I are aiming to get to Old Sarum for lunch to give us time for those last minute things that crop up. We’ll most likely go for a local flight in the afternoon for a gentle start as Saturday we end up in Beverley up past Grimsby, via Romford Essex and Lincolnshire. #1053
