• Driven Away

At 1700 yesterday the 3 of us stood on a cold dark airfield in Hampshire and watched as both planes and the 4WD were driven away loaded into a container. It was the culmination of an extremely long & stressful weekend of hard work and a much, much longer period of preparation. So now, instead of worrying about the shipping deadline, we just have to worry about how well we packed the container.
  • A Week To Go

Less than a week to go until container loading and the lads are frantically making last minute preparations. It feels as though things are finally coming together now, the carnet which has been causing us problems for the last five months is finally in the bag and should theoretically make customs clearance in Oz easier. The container is being loaded at midday on Monday 17th December and it will then feel like a big milestone has been passed, it is also the point of no return!
  • Keith Speaks!

Welcome to the third team entry and my first contribution. This past week has seen a large piece fall into place, of the jigsaw that makes up the planning of the trip. Last Wednesday Jim, John and I travelled to Rochdale to collect the two new trikes from Mainair. After visiting the factory to pick up some spares, we travelled down to Barton Aerodrome for our first view of the finished aircraft.
  • Change of Aircraft

The big news since Jims first diary entry is that we had a change of plan concerning the aircraft. Both of us sold our existing planes which allowed us each to order brand new 912 Blades from Mainair. Although we left it rather late to make such a change, now that we’ve made the decision, we are both really looking forward to taking delivery of G-CBGM and G-CBGT, hopefully in the next week or so.
  • First Diary Entry

Hi all, We decided that it’s time for a diary entry, now that more people know about our trip and to answer a few commonly asked questions.I’ve been considering a trip of this nature for a long time but as with many of these things time drags on….. Anyway an ad in MF at the beginning of this year brought lots of interest and subsequent excuses… In May a team was formed as you can see from the website comprising John, Keith and Jim.
