We finally got away. Third time lucky. Fistly held up by bumpy weather yesterday, then foggy this morning. Our first stop was Lamberts Bay, some 3 hours and 150 miles north. On the way we saw whales, dolphins, seals, and John saw some flamingoes….git.
After that a 40 minute flight inland to Vredendal, where some local guys took us to the filing station for fuel. Thanks guys. A further flight took us to a village on the edge of the diamond mining area.
Landing on the road, we taxied through the village and were soon followed by around one hundred local children. This was a bit scary. We pulled up in front of the filling station, only to be told that it had not been used in years.
Found somewhere to stay, staked the aircraft, and that’s the end of the first day. Welcome to Africa guys.
Jim, John, Ingrid and Julie

I know you’ll be jealous guys, but while you’re trying to make the most of the sunrise over the namib desert, we’ll be watching it over the River yare in Norwich! Hope you don’t feel too homesick?
Good to see you’re making great progress. Gentle breezes…
