On the 3rd March the team left Palmers Island for Tyagorah via the Easternmost point of mainland Australia, Cape Byron. A few rainshowers en-route but generally fairly uneventful. Over the last few flights it has become particularly noticeable how much more tropical it has become. Banana plants at south west rocks and now sugar cane fields everywhere. Jo at Tyagorah kindly found us hangar space and we went off to see the local sights. The following morning (4th march) we got up at 6.00am to find the wind already strong so had a few extra hours much needed sleep. We then spent a majority of the day undertaking maintenance tasks on the planes before getting airborne at 6pm in reduced strength but still strong winds. We flew the 67 miles to Jacobs Well in just 54 minutes. Thanks to Ian and Jules for collecting us from the airfield and driving us in to Brisbane. We now intend spending a couple of days in Brisbane before moving north again. More soon, jim, John and Keith.

great to hear from you. Oz is fantastic - no jellyfish yet nor crocs but I’ll be on my way home by then. Flying is also a great way to see the country and land next to all those beaches
bye for now
Ingrid

Thanks Jenny,
Pleased to say the first aid course has been of no use whatsoever, in the nicest possible way of course!!!
Lets hope it stays that way.

Very f*****g envious. Here the weather is shit, the pub almost flooded and the share price has dropped through the floor. I wish I had the balls to just get up and do something.

But when I’m back home & unemployed you might see things differently ! I would still make the choice I have though. Bring the family down when I get back & I’ll take you flying again. Cheers John

Glad you got some flying in at last ! Done about 70 hours out here now & I have to say that I haven’t lost any enthusiasm for it ;-) Just keeps getting better. If you are boring visitors with the trip details now - just wait till i get back !

It was great to see you zooming off into the distance. We had a slow trip home to Caboolture and a difficult crosswind landing.

Safe flying
